The European Course of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in Latin America

The European Course of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology, main course of the European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR), took place for the first time in Latin America in 2017.

This course comes to Brazil thanks to an unprecedented partnership of ESNR and EBNR with the Sociedade Paulista de Radiologia e Diagnóstico por Imagem (SPR) to benefit Latin American professionals. Being a replication of the European course content, it is called European Course of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in Latin America.

The ESNR in Latin America follows the program of the ECNR in Europe and offers an intensive scientific program of four days, with theoretical classes in the morning and workshops in the afternoon.

About seven teachers sent by the ESNR from Europe and about 20 lecturers from Brazil and other parts of Latin America have the mission to present to participants the basic content of neuroradiology that every professional trained in this area should know.

Theoretical classes are mostly given by foreign teachers, with translation into Portuguese and Spanish. The practical classes are conducted in form of workshops and are not translated due to the high interaction between the coordinators and the audience. They are coordinated simultaneously by two teachers from European, Brazilian or from other South American countries.

A multiple choice question examination is held at the end of the course. EBNR issues a certificate with the result for each participant.

Also, at the end of the course, a certificate of attendance will be provided to those who reach the required frequency, endorsed by Sociedade Brasileira de Neurorradiologia (SBNR).

It is important to point out that the European Course of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in Latin America is equivalent and presents the same value of courses conducted by the ESNR in Europe. Residents in Latin America who attend the four modules in São Paulo, pass the multiple choice question exams after each module and fulfil the other eligibility criteria – such as being ESNR member and are radiologist - will be able to register to the Final Examination held before the Annual Congresses in Europe once a year.

The European Course of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in Latin America are conducted at Maksoud Plaza Hotel in São Paulo, Brazil
