CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE

The role of the Certification committee is to evaluate the candidates wanting to enter the last step, the oral examination of the European Examination in Neuroradiology, and to ensure their eligibility. Approval by the committee can earliest be sought when training is completed, all four ECNR courses have been attended and the written examinations associated with ECNR have been passed.
The Certification committee is also involved in certifying established neuroradiologists wishing to obtain the European Qualification in Neuroradiology. This is program valid for a limited period only.

1. The Certification committee (CC) has to ensure that a candidate fulfils all requirements before participating in the oral examination. The decision of CC, if a candidate is accepted for examination, is based on a complete application form.

2. The requirements to take part in the examination for European Certificate in Neuroradiology are:

2.1 Those who take the examination agree that they are bound by the Committee's rulings regarding credentials and examination scores.

2.2 The candidate must have sufficient ability in the English language to communicate with patients, foreign colleagues, to study international literature and to master the examination.

2.3 The minimum requirements for admission to examination is having passed MD as well as a 5 years specialist training after MD, of which a minimum of three years in neuroradiology. Of the three years dedicated to neuroradiology at least two years should be spent in Europe in an accredited European training program for neuroradiology. It is possible to train in more than one training centre but no such period should be shorter than 6 months.

2.4 A non-European candidate is welcome to sit the examination, provided he/she has completed five years of certified training in neuroradiology in a non-European country, passed the ECNR written examination, and that this training is deemed equivalent by the Certification committee.

2.5 All candidates wishing to sit the oral examination must have completed all fours courses of the ECNR and passed the written examinations associated with this course.

2.6 The candidate has to keep an authorized log-book listing his/her clinical experience by the number and type of diagnostic interpretations and neuroradiological procedures. The log-book has to be certified by the accredited training centre. Other educational activities and progress of training has to be certified by the authorized chief of training at the training centre.

2.7 Candidates wishing to sit the examination must present a minimum of three scientific papers (no abstracts) published in recognized journals. The candidate must also have presented a minimum of three communications at scientific meetings. The Certification Committee rules on the eligibility of papers and communications.

2.8 The fee for examination, to be paid in advance, is set by the examination committee.
