A gigant has left us! Professor Pierre Lasjaunias died July 1st 2008 in the aftermath from a heart attac. Pierre was professor of neuroradiology at Université Paris-Sud and had his clinical affiliation to Hopital Bicêtre in Paris. He was Head of Division of Neurosciences at the hospital. Pierre has over the years been known as an extraordinary researcher. With his background as anatomist he made the cerebral vascular system his great interest. He was the co-author of the authoritative handbook on that subject and Editor-in-Chief of 'Interventional Neuroradiology'. Pierre's great passion was teaching. He was extremely loyal to all his pupils and trainees who, disregarding their level of knowledge or training, all adored him. He was involved in all teaching from basic anatomy to advanced neurointerventional training. He was one of our worlds very best and most skilled interventional neuroradiologists with his practice being in countries all around the globe. Pierre was also very much involved in professional matters and was past President of the European and French Societies of Neuroradiology and the current President of World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology - WFITN. Pierre would have turned 60 this summer. Pierre left wife and three children. Olof Flodmark |
